The eight suspects

The individuals, identified as Issakah Taugfic, Abudu Isaiah, Abdul Latif Mohammed, Mohammad Azandoro, Alhassan Issah, Amadu Mohammad, Abdulai Adams, and Abdulai Ibrahim, unlawfully entered the workshop premises, where they threatened and forced workers to vacate their offices.
Addressing journalists in a brief press conference, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Communications at the Ghana Police Service, indicated that following the report of the vandalism, a rapid response team from the police swiftly acted on a distress call from the workshop, leading to the timely arrest of the suspects.
“This incident contributes to a growing total of 97 suspects arrested in connection with various attacks, looting, and property destruction in the region,” she said.
ACPÂ Ansah-Akrofi added that the suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, thereby assuring the public of their commitment to maintaining peace and security within the community, while urging residents to remain vigilant.
Bawumia Condemns Acts
Following the concession of defeat by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Sunday, December 8, 2024, a number of National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporters have engaged in looting state properties and assaulting government and Electoral Commission officials across the country.
This troubling development prompted a response from Dr. Bawumia, who called on the leadership of the NDC to rein in their members.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Bawumia stated, “I wish to call on the President-elect, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to exhibit statesmanship by urging his supporters to maintain peace and unity in our country.
âThere have been numerous incidents of NDC members besieging collation centres with offensive weapons in an attempt to forcibly declare NDC parliamentary candidates as winners in certain contests. We believe that this behaviour is not in keeping with the democratic culture we are all trying to nurture.”
Similarly, the Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, on numerous occasions has also urged John Dramani Mahama to call his supporters to order, emphasising that their actions are causing financial loss and posing a threat to the country’s democracy.
