NEW PATRIOTIC Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has charged members of his party to protect the ballot boxes with vigilance on voting day – December 7, this year.
He alleged that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Electoral Commission (EC) had teamed up to rig presidential elections, which is slated for December 7, this year.
According to him, the only way of preventing the EC and the NDC from carrying out their “diabolical plan” is for NPP members to jealously protect the ballot boxes on the day of election.
Mr. Agyapong sternly cautioned that if the NPP fails to jealously guard the ballot boxes at the various polling stations across the 275 constituencies, the NDC would win the polls via dubious means.
He has consequently tasked the NPP faithful to stay at the various polling stations, even after they had voted, and watch the ballot boxes so that nobody could tamper with them (boxes).
Mr. Agyapong was speaking during the NPP post-manifesto launch rally on Sunday in Accra.
The programme was attended by former President Kufuor, Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other party stalwarts.
The outspoken NPP MP stressed, “If we have huge crowds at the various polling centres, that will make it impossible for the polls to be rigged.”
Mr. Agyapong noted that the NDC administration, after failing to perform creditably in almost eight years, cannot win the election when it is conducted in a free and fair manner.
