Police Chase Enchi ‘Killers’

THE GHANA Police Service has vowed to arrest the perpetrators of the violent attack in Enchi last Sunday which resulted in the death of four people and caused injury to one other person.

“We will surely get the perpetrators of this violent attack arrested to face justice,” the police have indicated.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that four men were shot dead at Enchi in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region.

The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Sources had it that the incident occurred as a result of a chieftaincy dispute which led to the clash of the two factions in the area.

It was gathered that some youth wielding machetes stormed the Enchi Palace on that fateful day in an attempt to attack the paramount chief of the Aowin Traditional Area, Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin II.

The youth, however, clashed with the guards on duty at the palace and in the process, gunshots were fired leading to the death of the four.

After the incident, the police issued a statement indicating that it had restored calm at Enchi and had begun investigation into the violent chieftaincy dispute.

“The police have restored calm at Enchi after a violent chieftaincy dispute resulted in the death of four people and injury to one other person,” the statement noted.

It indicated that security has since been beefed up in the palace, the Enchi township and surrounding communities.

The statement added “Investigation is ongoing and crime scene experts and reinforcement teams have been dispatched from the national headquarters in Accra and surrounding regions to support the Western North Regional Police Command.”

The police urged the public and the chieftaincy institution to use peaceful and due judicial process in resolving differences in order to avoid such needless deaths.
