The Ghana Police Service in the Savannah Region has managed to arrest four suspected armed robbers, who reportedly killed the UK-based International Muslim TV Presenter, Syed Taalay Ahmad Sahib on duty in Tamale.
They also managed to shoot two of the suspected robbers, in an exchange of gunshots for their alleged involvement in some robberies and murder cases along the Kintampo- Buipe-Tamale Highway, Sunday.
The suspects; Hamidu Umaru and Haadu were killed after some gun fire exchanges with the Police Intelligence and Operational teams.
Syed Taalay Ahmad Sahib, a journalist with London-based MTA Television Channel and his colleague, Umaru Abdul Hakim were attacked by the criminals at Mpaha Junction last Monday while on a mission to film documentary on places where Khalafu had stayed in Africa.
Unfortunately, Taalay Ahmad was pronounced dead while his colleague was receiving treatment at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
A Police report, sighted by DGN Online, said after the battle with the robbers, they managed to arrest suspects: Sanju Bukari, Bestor Saab, Ali Amadu, and Isaac Seidu, who are currently cooling off in the Police cells assisting in investigations.
According to the Police, these suspects were behind many robberies including the killing of an International Journalist some days ago.
The report added that the Intelligence-led operations by the Special Anti-Robbery Task Force also retrieved two locally manufactured pistols and live cartridges, machetes, bayonets, pepper spray cans, and stun guns.
Upon search, they managed to retrieve the stolen items such as mobile phones and motorbikes.
The Police Administration said it has instituted some rigorous measures to effectively combat serious crimes that have plagued the area over the past few years.
They indicated that similar intelligence-led operations have been employed in other regions.
The Police however urged the general public to collaborate with them by providing credible information on suspected criminals for swift and immediate action.
