COP Samuel Monney being pulled out
A colourful pull-out ceremony has been held for the Director General in charge of Technical Services of the Ghana Police Service.
COP Samuel Monney bowed out after 32 years in the Police Service.
The Deputy Minister in charge of Fisheries and Aqua Culture, Moses Anim, the Police Management Board members (POMAD), families, senior, and junior police officers and others witnessed the farewell parade held in his honour last Friday.
In a farewell speech, COP Samuel Monney said having attained the retirement age of 60, it was time for him to bid farewell to his colleagues, juniors and friends.
He expressed his gratitude to the IGP, POMAB members, and all officers who have in diverse ways supported him to come this far.
“I am bowing out today with pride knowing that I have left behind, a number of hard working and committed officers who are going to continue from where I left off.”
He said, “the Police Service has undergone significant changes and this has come about as a result of hard work, commitment, dedication and perseverance from personnel who defied the odds and brought significant change to the service.”
He urged the leadership of the Service to unite in diversity and forge ahead for the good of the Service.
In an exhortation by DCOP Rev. Fr. George Arthur, Director in charge of Police Religious Affairs, he said there was time for everything in life.
He said retirement becomes a punishment to some if they do not plan for it, and urged all personnel to prepare, save for their future retirement by investing in their children and spouses.
“Retirement is like death and will surely come. You need to prepare,” he added.
He advised those in active service to always be merciful and humane whenever their retired colleagues approach them for help.
Adding that, “No human situation is permanent so when you are also at the top, treat your subordinates with care and respect since one day you may need them after they take over affairs upon your retirement.”
DCOP Rev. Fr. Arthur advised the retiree to go home on retirement and have time for himself and the work of his creator.
