THE TIMELY intervention of the police has helped to save two suspected robbers from the jaws of death at Abuakwa CMB in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

Suspects Ernest Antwi, unemployed, and Francis Antwi, a taxi driver, were being lynched by a mob after their robbery operation had failed, when police arrived at the scene.

The duo, reportedly, were soaked in blood but their captors were still pummeling them with different weapons when the police saved the situation.

“On 30/01/2026, at about 0530 hours, police from Pokukrom Station responded to a distress call that a suspected thief had been arrested and was being lynched at Abuakwa CMB.

“On arrival, police met Richard Aboagye of Pokukrom, who reported that on 27/01/2026, unknown persons broke into his house and stole a television set, a laptop, and other personal effects.

“He later traced some of the stolen items to a nearby bush where they had been hidden, but left them untouched,” Abuakwa District Police report, confirming the news, said.

The report further said “on 30/01/2026, at about 0230 hours, the suspects again broke into his house and stole his 42-inch television set and other items, which were added to the items earlier hidden in the bush.

“The suspects, Ernest Antwi, unemployed, and Francis Antwi, a taxi driver, later returned in a taxi cab to convey the items from the bush but were arrested, prompting a call for police assistance.”

The suspects, the police said, were bleeding and looking weak so they were saved and afterwards re-arrested, and are currently in custody assisting investigations.

“The suspects are being provided with the necessary medical attention and will be arraigned before the court upon completion of investigations,” the police report concluded.
