Police Seize Truckload Of Suspected Narcotics

The Oti Regional Police Command has intercepted a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09 at Dambai after discovery of 4,000 parcels of compressed substances wrapped in a yellow masking tape, suspected to be narcotics.

According to a statement issued by Deputy Supt. of Police, Public Affairs Officer/Oti, John Nchor, the police acted on intelligence and conducted a search on the truck, suspecting it was carrying narcotics.

DSP Nchor disclosed that the substances were found carefully concealed within compartments of the truck. “It was discovered that the trailer, though appearing empty, had been modified with secret compartments sealed with six (6) metal plates,” he revealed.

DSP Nchor added that the concealed compartments beneath the trailer were opened in the presence of suspect Amidu Jubril, aged 40.

“The truck has been impounded, and all exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes,” the statement added.

DSP Nchor further indicated that the suspect has been detained and is assisting police with ongoing investigation.

“The Regional Police Command assures the public of its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences,” the statement read.
