The Presbyterian Worship Centre (PWC), Accra, has donated an assortment of foodstuffs and clothing worth GH¢10,000 to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
The items presented to the hospital on Friday, December 1, 2017, include bags of rice, cartons of milk and tomatoes, beverages, bars of soap, packets of sugar, among many others.
The Resident Minister of the Legon Presec-based PWC, Rev Erasmus Mensah Laryea, in a brief remark to handover the items to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, said the donation formed part of activities marking the church’s fifth anniversary celebration.
According to him, it was also in fulfilment of the Christian and social responsibility.
He said the hospital became a beneficiary of the donation after the church became aware of the many challenges facing mental health delivery in Ghana.
A senior nursing officer at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, Jacinta Kufe, who received the donation on behalf of the hospital, thanked the church, saying it would help meet the needs of the inmates for this Christmas season.
“At least, they will be able to have a feel of the Christmas,” she said and appealed to other institutions and individuals to support the hospital during this festive season.
