The Eastern Regional branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH) as part of its 25th anniversary celebration has donated some essential first aid medications and foodstuff to the Akuse Prison in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The items include; boxes of dewormer, pain relief drugs, hand sanitizers, other skincare medicines as well as bags of rice, bags of locally produced gari, bags of sachet water, cartons of milk, and other food supplement.
The Chairman of the Eastern Regional chapter, Pharm. George Attara Boye at the presentation admonished that the donation par of their anniversary which is celebrated every 25th September, that they decided to donates to the prisons to ease the burdening on them.
According to him, “After realizing the numerous challenges faced by prisons all over the country and for that matter our Region. We appealed to civil societies, corporate organizations, and NGOs to come to their aid to assist the prison since the government cannot do it alone”.
ASP Daniel Odotei, the Officer in Charge of Health at Akuse Prison on his part expressed gratitude to the PSGH Regional Chapter for their kind gesture.
He explained that the health unit of the prison responsible for discharging first aid services for the inmates does not have adequate first aid medicines to take care of the inmates.
He, therefore, called on civil societies, philanthropists, and the government to come to their aid.
