A two-straight set victory over Isaac Titriku handed Daniel Anum Quartey the Men’s Professionals Singles ultimate prize in the 15th Accra Seniors Open tennis championship over the weekend.
He recorded a 6-4, 7-5 results to pocket the special cash prize and lifted the trophy at stake.
Benjamin Palm partnered Emmanuel Plange to defeat Benjamin Ababio and Elliot Aryee in two straight sets of 6-1 and 6-2, in the Men’s Professional Doubles.
It was Joshua Annan, who won the 30-39 years Men’s Singles event after a two straight set victory of 6-2, 6-2 over Seth Mingle just as Eric Dowuona won in the 50-59 category after Dr. Maxwell Adjei retired in the third set of their epic final.
The Men’s 50-59 doubles event saw the pair of Lawrence Lartey and Dr. Maxwell Adjei defeat David Carreras and Henry Nortey to be crowned champions.
In the 60-69 Men’s Singles, Nana Yaw Ampaw Jnr. Beat Joe Paddymo 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 to emerge the new winner.
Abigail Odoi beat Augustina Yamak 6-1, 6-1 to emerge the winner in the ladies singles.
Isaac Dapaah and Kate Coleman also beat Bernice Taylor and Emmanuel Addotey 6-1, 6-1 in the Mixed Doubles.
Tournament Director, Peter ‘Grand Master’ Annan expressed gratitude to past and present regional ministers of Accra for the roles they played in sustaining the event over the years.

The Grandmaster also thanked individuals; Dr.&Mrs. Henry Holdbrook-Smith, Mr. Nick Akpebu, Mr. Ekow Hackman, Ambassador D.K. Osei, Douglas Osei, Albert Brock and Fritz Baffour as well as executives, planning committee members, referees, umpires, ball boys and the entire members of the Accra Lawn Tennis Club for their support.
He urged all stakeholders to work harder to stage more exciting and competitive events in the coming years to make it a landmark event on Ghana’s tennis calendar.
