Apostle Kofi Nkansah Sarkodie aka Saint Sark
A KUMASI-based pastor, Apostle Kofi Nkansah Sarkodie, aka Saint Sark, is expected to be hauled to court today for flouting a presidential order for church services to be suspended in the country as part of measures to avert the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Pastor Sarkodie, who is the head of the Open Arms Ministry at North Suntreso in Kumasi, had infamously flouted the presidential order twice in less than one week, compelling policemen to apprehend and detain him this time around yesterday.
First Arrest
He was first arrested by armed policemen when he organized a church service last Wednesday but was questioned and granted bail by the police only for him to repeat his infamous action on Sunday.
According to reports, Pastor Sarkodie was organizing Sunday church service in his church auditorium at North Suntreso which was attended by equally ‘recalcitrant’ worshippers, when policemen invaded the place and arrested him.
The paper could not verify as to whether he mounted some level of resistance when he was being taken to the police station on Sunday. During his first arrest, some of his church members tried to resist the police and created a scene.
As a result of the resistance, two of his church elders were arrested alongside him by the armed policemen last week.
Court Action
“Yes it is true; he has been arrested again for organizing a church service this morning (Sunday) and he is being taken to the Central Police Station in Kumasi,” the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Godwin Ahianyo, confirmed on phone.
“Saint Sark will be detained at the police station and he would be taken to court on Monday morning to determine his fate,” he added.
The police PRO, however, did not state the likely charge that would be preferred against the ‘stubborn’ pastor.
