Franklin Atta presenting the items on behalf of RCARRC to Rev Sister Grace
The expression on the faces of kids at Kressner Orphanage at Kodjo-Ashong was priceless when members of Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central, once again, paid a visit to the place last Saturday to donate items and cash valued over GH¢10,000 as part of their Easter charity.
Items donated by club members, their family and friends included provisions, toiletries, clothes, toys, cartons of water and a sum of GH¢5,000 for school fees.
As their theme for this year goes, ‘Rotary Serving Humanity’, the visit and donation formed part of the club’s activities to support the home in meeting their basic needs and help improve the standard of living of the less-privileged children at Kodjo-Ashong and its environs.
Vice President of the club, Franklin Atta, who presented the items, pointed out that the club, in line with the guiding principles of Rotary, seeks to improve the lives of mothers and children in deprived communities and better the plight of everyone. He added, “…We hope our contribution will go a long way to improve the quality of life of Kressner Orphanage and the community.”
The relationship between the club and Kressner Orphanage, Vice President Franklin revealed, is almost five years old, adding, “This relationship has been nurtured till today and the donation today is yet another addition to the promise to improve the orphanage in Kodjo-Ashong. This is the Rotary Club of Accra-Ring Road Central second visit to the orphanage this year.”
The club also submitted the completed drawings to facilitate the processing of permit for the Laundromat project for which the club had cut the sod last Christmas at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra.
Sister Grace from the orphanage thanked the Rotary Club of Accra -Ring Road Central for the support and expressed the hope that other associations and philanthropists would emulate the club’s shining examples.
