Three former workers of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) have dragged the Authority before an Industrial and Labour High Court over their dismissal.
They are Elvis Osei Mensah, a former Sales Support Executive; Donald Djopo, Audit Manager in charge of financial audit and Pious Akelisyine, Operations Analyst and Ashanti Regional Manger.
The trio is contesting their dismissal from the NLA over claims of embezzling funds they had secured from the staff of the company under the pretext of purchasing lands for them.
The plaintiffs in their joint statement of case averred that their respective dismissal was carried out with malice aforethought, and in complete dis-consonance with law, equity and natural justice.
The three among others posited that they were published in certain print and electronic media as having stolen from NLA.
The lawyer for the plaintiffs further argued that as law abiding citizens, they have decided to protect their individual reputations, economic and other interests by prosecuting the case.
As a result, the plaintiffs want a declaration from the court that their respective dismissals were unlawful and an order compelling the NLA to reinstate them to their respective work places with immediate effect.
Lawyers of the former staff of the Gaming Regular also seek an order directed at NLA to pay all salaries, increments in salaries, other emoluments from date of dismissal to date of judgement and to also give deserved promotion to the plaintiffs.
Aside cost, the three also want interest accrued on the salaries from the date of accrual to date of judgment
The plaintiffs again seek damages for mental torture, libel, slander and all other resultant inconveniences suffered at the hands of NLA agents.
