Renowned host of Joy FM’s ‘Ignition’ and ‘Weekend City Show,’ Sammy Forson has officially announced his departure from the station and radio in general, marking the end of an illustrious 21-year career in mainstream radio, music, and entertainment industry.
During his final show on Thursday, Sammy expressed overwhelming gratitude to his audience, acknowledging their unwavering love and support throughout his journey. He thanked his team, colleagues, and supporters for their invaluable contributions to his successful career.
Sammy’s radio journey traces back to 2001 when he began as a computer systems engineer in Kumasi.
His passion for music and DJing led him to revolutionize radio stations by introducing computerized music systems, transforming the industry from CDs and cassettes to high-specification computer setups.
Over the years, Sammy’s career soared as he moved from one milestone to another. From his role at the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to hosting shows at Citi 97.3FM, YFM 107.9FM, and Live 91.9FM, Sammy’s versatility and deep understanding of the media landscape garnered him widespread acclaim.
Notably, Sammy’s stint as the Business Development Manager for Sarkodie/Duncwills Entertainment/Sarkcess Music from 2010 to 2015 showcased his ability to spearhead successful campaigns, album launches, and brand management, contributing significantly to Sarkodie’s numerous award wins.
Joining Multimedia Group in 2018 marked a pivotal moment in Sammy’s career.
As the host of ‘Weekend City Show’ and ‘Ignition,’ he became a beloved figure, offering a mix of entertainment, comedy, and engaging discussions.
