Satellites Coach Sure To Succeed

Jimmy James Corblah

Newly-appointed coach, Jimmy James Corblah has vowed to restore the shine the national U-20 male soccer side enjoyed in the past.

And after two days in camp with the team in Prampram, the former Heart of Lions deputy trainer is beginning to identify players that have what it takes to realize his dream.

He has admitted the enormity of the national assignment, taking into account the pressure to qualify at the expense of giants like Algeria and Tunisia for the African Youth Championship, having failed to qualify for the last edition.

Noted for rescuing relegation threatened teams in both the elite and lower tier sides, the experienced trainer returned from Togo after a year’s stint where he wrote his name in gold with  a top class side Maranatha-losing finalists (Independence Cup/FA Cup) and bronze winners in the league.

As a result, the Togolese side have assigned him the role of a technical consultant.

He has had stints with Lions, where he deputized for coach Bashir Hayford to lift the Coca Cola Top 4. He also built the team for coach Anos Adepa who later guided the team to lift the Ghana Premier league title few seasons ago.

Corblah is credited for qualifying Sporting Mirren, then St Mirren from Division One to Premier, qualified Mighty Jets to the Middle League, qualified Danbort FC also for the Middle League after emerging tops in the league as well as guided them to the FA cup quarters.

At Inter Allies, he again brought his experience to bear on the team-from the relegation zone under the late coach Hebert Addo to a respectable position. He did same with Wa All Stars when all pointed out that they were heading to the lower tier league.

“I had a challenging deal from Togo, a club called Maranatha, I helped them from the last but one position to the third position after seven games.

“The FA president realized I am the best for the Satellites job, it is difficult but I believe with the support of all we will succeed,” said Corblah.

He is being assisted by Nurudeen.
