The Member of Parliament (MP) for Savelugu Constituency, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has launched Yooyili Pag’dede Foundation at Savelugu in the Northern Region to ensure that no constituent is left behind in the development of the municipality, especially women folks who are the backbone of their respective families.

At the launch in Savelugu, Hajia Fatahiya indicated that Yooyili Pag’dede Foundation is not a political tool but a vehicle for progress, to promote an inclusive society and enhance the social wellbeing of her people, particularly the underprivileged and destitute.

“I therefore invite our respected traditional leaders, private sector players, development partners, and non-governmental organisations to join us in providing better living conditions for all, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 8, 10, and 11, which focus on Decent Work and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, and Sustainable Cities and Communities by 2030,” she said.

The Savelugu MP noted that, growing up, she always held the conviction that leadership is about service, “and service is best rendered when it reaches the most vulnerable among us.”

“As the Deputy Ranking Member on the Gender Select Committee of Parliament, I will continue to amplify the voices of women, children, and persons with disabilities,” she stated.

Hajia Fatahiya disclosed that the foundation will prioritise women’s entrepreneurship in farming, agribusiness, trade, and other economic activities by providing essential tools needed to build sustainable livelihoods.

The Savelugu MP hinted that since she assumed office following her resounding mandate from the good people of Savelugu in the 2024 general election, she launched the Savelugu Educational Fund with a seed capital of GH¢169,000, in fulfillment of her campaign promise to support brilliant but needy students, adding that over 100 students benefitted in 2025, and more students will benefit this year.

“I also organised a medical outreach programme in collaboration with health professionals, conducting free breast cancer and chronic disease screenings for over 3,000 women across the constituency, while creating awareness about early detection and many other social interventions I carried out in the constituency,” she stated.

She urged all stakeholders to embrace this new chapter, one where every woman is financially independent and every person with disability is fully integrated into society.

Nyab Diare Lana, opinion leaders, the Northern Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Mohammed Baantima Samba, Karaga MP, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam; Deputy Minister for Transport, Madam Dorcas Toffey, and other dignitaries graced the occasion.
