Elijah laid at the back of police van
A SCHOOL bus belonging to Wise Educational Complex, a preparatory school in Sunyani, yesterday knocked and killed an eight-year-old school boy, Elijah Tutu, at Abesim near Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region.
The accident, which occurred at about 5:30 pm yesterday threw the whole community into mourning as the intestines of the boy gushed out after the bus had run over him.
DAILY GUIDE learnt that the school bus was returning from Tanoso after conveying students to their various destinations. According to police, the driver, Kabore Mohammed, hit the boy from behind when the boy attempted to cross the road near Abesim Palace.  He was driving a Kia bus with registration number GW511-14.
Speaking to the Commander of the Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Stella Sedame explained that Elijah who was a student of Abesim Methodist Primary sustained various injuries and was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival at the Brong Ahafo Regional Hospital in Sunyani.
The body has since been deposited at the hospital’s morgue awaiting autopsy. She stated that the driver was initially detained but was later granted bail and is helping the police in their investigations while the bus has been detained at the police station.
Community members blamed the driver for the accident, saying he drove irresponsibly.
