Priscilla Serwaa Manu
Priscilla Serwaa Manu, a trainee nurse from Mampong Nursing and Midwifery Training College, was crowned Miss Health Ghana 2020 at the grand finale held at the GNAT Hall in Accra last Friday.
She beat nine other gorgeous ladies in a race to win the crown of Miss Health Ghana 2020.
All ten finalists put up a good show but Serwaa Manu proved a tough competitor on the night and their performances on stage right from the onset to the end were exhilarating and educative.
The ten contestants include Matilda Tetteh-Bigson (Greater Accra), Priscilla Serwaa Manu (Ashanti), Mary Ababila (Upper East), Emmanuella Wilson Atepor (Volta), Sarah Nkansah Boateng (Oti), Nana Ama Boison (Central), Issabella Akambey Awontemi (Northen) Hilarie Fraikue Gracia (Western), Sandra Bobie Ansah (Ashanti) and Mikayla Essel (Central).
This year’s event which attracted a number of personalities including fans of the ten finalists was under the theme “Creating Awareness on Mental Health.”
Serwaa Manu impressed the judges with her elegance and smartness to ease her way to the top with fierce competition from first runner-up Akambey Awontemi Isabella and second runner-up Gracia Helarie Fraikue respectively.
Akambey Awontemi Isabella is a medical student at the University of Development Studies and Gracia Helarie Fraikue is a student of the University of Health and Allied Sciences.
For her prize, Serwaa Manu took home a brand new 2017 Hyundai Accent as well as securing a one-year health ambassadorial deal and souvenirs from sponsors.
Speaking at the event, Madam Gladys Akyere Rockson, Chief Executive Officer of Lamrock Agency, organisers of the event, said the Miss Health Ghana platform was geared towards empowering young beautiful Ghanaian ladies in changing the narrative against the stereotyping of persons who are not mentally stable.
“This year’s has been very challenging but am delighted to have led the organisation of the paegent and I want to thank team members and sponsors who have supported this course.
“Creating awareness on mental health is a collective fight for all, but we as health practitioners are doing our best in taking positive actions towards changing the narrative and I believe this pagentry will spearhead this campaign in coming years,” she said.
Notably, the Miss Health Ghana pageantry won the Best Beauty Pageant of the Year at this year’s Ghana Oustanding Women’s Awards.
