Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV
The newly- enstooled Omanhene of Shama Traditional Area in the Western Region, Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV, has affirmed his commitment to ensure massive infrastructural development in the traditional area.
He said he will work with all key stakeholders to ensure that the people received their fair share of social amenities to help improve their living conditions.
He stressed that empowering the youth through skills training and capacity-building programmes will be among his top priorities.
To this end, the Omanhene is assisting in renovating a dilapidated youth center in the Shama area.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting the center and other projects, the Omanhene applauded the assembly member for Shama Etsifi where the center is located for the initial move to renovate the center.
He was very hopeful that after completion the center will become a home for the ‘ghetto boys’ and other youth in the area where they would be trained in many employable skills.
The Omanhene therefore donated GH¢100,000 to support the renovation works.
“The full cost of the works is GH¢300,000 and the assembly member, Justice Cobbina has been able to raise GH¢60,000 and with my GH¢100,000, we have more that half of the total amount now, so work can start,” he noted.
The Omanhene told journalists that he is also constructing an ultra-modern boarding facility to accommodate male students of the Shama Technical School.
He underscored the important role boarding facilities play in the education of students and vowed to ensure the completion of the boys’ dormitory.
He said he has also established the ‘Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku Educational Foundation’ to support education, with focus on improving infrastructure and providing scholarships to needy but brilliant students.
He emphasised that his enstoolment marks a new chapter for Shama as he is poised to lead the ancient fishing community forward.
Osagyefo Kwaw Fraiku IV was appointed by the Number 1 & 4 Asafo Companies of Shama, which hold the authority to select Omanhene.
His enstoolment marks a significant milestone, ending nearly 13 years of vacancy in the Shama stool.
