Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale
Shatta Wale shocked many people on Tuesday when he planted a soft kiss on Stonebwoy’s cheek during a press conference, which was held for them to announce a truce and their upcoming peace concert.
The kiss, which he described as ‘Jesus kiss’, is being tagged as a sign of love for his fellow musician, whom he now calls his brother.
But some industry stakeholders and followers of Ghanaian music have their misgivings, and they are hoping it doesn’t turn out to be a ‘betrayal kiss’ just as Judas did to Jesus in the Holy Bible.
Barely a month ago, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale were caught in a brawl at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), which disrupted the awards for several minutes.
The press conference on Tuesday at the Marriot Hotel in Accra was officially to tell that world that they have given peace a chance.
This was made possible by the Kofi Abban Foundation.
During the ceremony, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale held hands and hugged as if they’ve been the best of friends before.
Sitting side by side, the two award-winning artistes showed that they have decided to put the past behind them.
“For us to get to this point, we had to try a number of times,” Stonebwoy said.
While he was acknowledging other artistes like Wendy Shay and Bullet who were pivotal in their peace process, Shatta Wale then planted a kiss on Stonebwoy’s cheek.
A surprised-looking Stonebwoy then placed one of his hands on his head and said, “But I am not a gay, no disrespect.”
Shatta Wale interrupted by saying, “This is a Jesus kiss” and he wouldn’t mind giving him an ‘Abraham kiss’ to prove that they are united now.
The incident generated a lot of laughter at the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Stonewboy and Shatta Wale are yet to announce the date and venue for their peace concert.
