The Small and Medium Enterprises Ghana Awards (SMEGA) has empowered Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMSs) through its regional free training programme for businesses.
Through the ‘SMEGA Interact’ platform powered by Vodafone Ghana, SMEs are able to share knowledge while building their capacities.
The project has provided training to over five hundred and seventy Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through their Innovative enterprise.
Kwesi Ofori Jnr., Project Lead SME Ghana Awards, who disclosed this at the official launch of SMEGA’16, said the SMEGA Interact has already taken place in the Western and Ashanti Regions and would soon reach the Northern Region.
The 2016 SMEGA Awards is on the theme, ‘Sustaining Ghana’s SMEs in a Globally Competitive Market- Uncovering the Pillars of Profitable Growth in a Digitized Business World.’
He said SMEG believes in helping build the appropriate business structures in order to empower and sustain MSMEs to be globally competitive.
Papa Bartels, SPS at the Ministry of Trade and Industry, speaking on behalf of the sector minister, acknowledged the efforts of SMEGA in empowering SMEs in the country despite the numerous challenges they may face.
“Indeed such awards do not only boost the image of receiving enterprises but also serves as a motivation to other enterprises to strive for higher achievements,” he said.
He said the ministry was more than ready to strengthen the relationship with SMEGA to equip the SMESs.
Angela Mensah Poku, Vodafone Business Solutions Lead, encouraged SMEs in the country to take advantage of the platform that Vodafone Business Solutions offers to reach their numerous clients.
“You have a market out there that is 10 times bigger and you are only limited by what you see,” she said.
Ms. Mensah Poku also pledged the continuous support of Vodafone, the lead sponsor, to the event.
