Soccer for Dreamers, a vibrant non-governmental organisation (NGO), last Friday presented football kits worth thousands of cedis to a Kumasi-based disability side, Asanteman FC in a ceremony at the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

President of Soccer for Dreamers, Mrs. Sylvia Akwaboah, said their focus is to support grassroots football and their project cuts across able and disabled as well as both sexes, hence their donations to various football clubs in Ghana since 2022.

At its third presentation ceremony, Soccer for Dreamers donated to five female clubs in the Greater Accra Region, four male teams from the Eastern Region, and the disability team based in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region with some of the Black Challenge, Ghana Amputee national team players.

“The disability team benefited due to the country’s exploits in disability football,l and we present our widow’s mite to encourage them,” she said.

Mrs. Akwaboah and her three children, Baruch, Jed and Kayden Akwaboah, who play football in Singapore, UK and USA, their dad and grandfather, were also at the event.

She urged the players to look beyond football, building up themselves in their minds and join the Ubuntu Online Academy.

Technical Director of the Black Challenge, Ali Jaraa, thanked Soccer for Dreamers for the kits from New York Red Bull Club based in the United States of America.

Compliance and Integrity Officer of the GFA Foundation, Obed Tuffour, advised the players to support the integrity of the game and shun things that corrupt football.

The GFA Foundation partnered Soccer for Dreamers in line with its mission and objective of initiating and supporting projects and programmes that improve lives and livelihoods of football people and communities.

The items donated included Nike branded water bottles, Redbulls T-shirts, Redbulls Leipzig jerseys and jackets for every player, donated by New York Redbulls Academy.

Ghana’s representative of Soccer for Dreamers, Stephane Lecosson Mande said, “Soccer for Dreamers is an inclusive organisation. We started by making sure women’s football was not left out, then combating menstrual poverty. We gave to skate soccer players last year, so when we realised there was a need with the amputee football team, it was a no brainer. We wanted to help where we could, and we are happy we have been able to do just that.”
