SSUE displaying her award
Female afro pop artiste, Susan Amoakohene, known on stage as SSUE, won the Ghanaian Artiste of the Year award at this year’s edition of the Ghana Arts and Culture Awards (GACA) held last Saturday in Accra.
The awards scheme seeks to honour individuals and organisations who have made significant contributions to the Arts and Culture Industry in Ghana.
The talented female artiste with international recognition, beat music acts like Wiyaala, Sherifa Gunu, Trigmatic and Worlasi to win the award.
Some of the award winners at the event include Torgbui Olokodzoko -Spoken Word Artist of the Year; Mohammed Awudu — Ghanaian Visual Artist of the Year; Nathaniel Amewugah – Discovery of the Year; Akuma Dance Ensemble — Traditional Dance Group of the Year; Love and Tradition — Ghanaian Movie of the Year; Chapters Couture -Ghanaian Fashion Designer of the Year; Clickseezy Photography –Arts and Culture Media of the Year (Photography); Adom FM — Arts and Culture Media of the Year (Radio); Afua Krobea Asante (Azmera)–Cultural Heritage Entrepreneur of the Year, among others.
The night witnessed live musical performances as some of the awardees and other artistes mounted the stage one after the other to thrill their  fans who graced the event.
SSUE, who has carved a niche for herself in the Ghanaian music industry, won the Discovery of the Year award at last year’s edition of the Ghana Arts Culture Awards (GACA).
Her musical career started a decade ago and her close association with some top stars like Bebie Brew and a few others has boosted her image and brand on the local music scene.
She also has grown to become a reliable artiste, consequently gaining prominence over some other existing ones.
Signed to Scratch Studio and Music Publishing, SSUE has shared stages at various times with artistes like Becca, Osibisa, Yinka Davis, Steve Bedi, Pat Thomas, Jimmy Beckley, Kojo Osew, among others.
