The late Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama
A STATE funeral is scheduled for the late former Second Lady, Hajia Ramatu Aliu Mahama, at the forecourt of the State House tomorrow, at 10am.
She passed away at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on April 7 after a short illness.
In attendance as the guest of honour at the occasion will be President Akufo-Addo.
During the tenure of the late Vice President Aliu Mahama, the former Second Lady Hajia Ramatu advocated for women participation in the decision-making process of the country and empowered the underprivileged through diverse social intervention projects to improve their lives.
Hajia Ramatu Mahama was the daughter of the late Imoro Egala, a Minister for Trade and Industry, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister for Health, first Ghanaian chairman of the Ghana Cocoa Board in the First Republic, and a long-standing political stalwart in Ghana through to the Third Republic. He was also a founder of the People’s National Party (PNP) now People’s National Convention (PNC).
