Stop Blame Game – Bawumia To NPP

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has had cause to caution the rank and file of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop blaming each other for the party’s loss in Saturday’s general election.

He thinks that has the tendency of affecting the unity of the NPP.

This was when some party faithful called on him at his Cantonments residence in Accra yesterday to console him after the NPP suffered defeat in last Saturday’s elections.

Bawumia believes any attempt at fault-finding will not help the party’s forward march in 2028, and has, therefore, asked members to desist from any such acts.

“I have abiding belief in God. Our ways are not his ways. I know most of us are sad because this is not what we expected, but we should have hope for a brighter future,” was how he put it.

Dr. Bawumia, who was the NPP’s flagbearer for the just-ended elections, said though the party lost the battle, it has not lost the war, and asked members of the party to unite their ranks.

That, he said, was because an analysis of the data from the election results showed that the NPP literally handed power to the NDC because the party’s votes reduced by 40 per cent from what it garnered in the 2020 elections.

That, he said, required deeper reflection and rallying together of the rank and file of the party to resolve their differences going forward.

NPP parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey;  Jerry Ahmed Shiab, the Member of Parliament (MP)-Elect for Weija-Gbawe; Elder Emmanuel Tobin, the MP-Elect for Anyaa-Sowutuom, and Madam Gloria Owusu, the MP-Elect for Trobu, took turns to encourage Dr. Bawumia to remain steadfast and stage a comeback in the 2028 polls.

They expressed their commitment to support Dr. Bawumia through thick and thin, to recapture power in the 2028 polls.

The supporters of the NPP from Weija-Gbawe, Korle Klottey, Trobu, Ayawaso East and Anyaa-Sowutuom sang party songs and cheered Dr. Bawumia.
