Sulemana Alhassan
President Nana Akufo-Addo has reinstated the Upper West Regional Minister, Alhassan Suleman, who was suspended following allegation of his involvement in acts of vigilantism in the region.
He was alleged to have instructed some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to attack officers of the Upper West Regional National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
Although he denied the allegation, he was asked by the president to step aside while investigation into the matter was conducted.
A press statement signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Presidency, cleared the regional minister of any unlawful acts after the police had completed investigation into the matter.
According to the statement, a police report dated February 22, 2018 was submitted to the president and after a thorough assessment of the report, it cleared Mr Alhassan Suleman of the allegation.
He has, therefore, been reinstated with immediate effect.
Meanwhile, the nine thugs who allegedly attacked the NADMO officers in Wa have been arraigned before court for prosecution.
They are facing five charges of assault, threat to harm, threat to death and rioting.
They are Kamal Ismail, Bongaawini Issahaku, Salifu Seidu Adnan, Abdulai Hakeem, Suglo Nugu, Dakura Peter, Nuhu Mohamed, Kasim Dramani and Issa Salifu.
