Tems Makes History As First African To Headline FIFA Club World Cup Final

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Tems, has become the first African artist to headline the FIFA Club World Cup final, making history with a powerful performance during the match between Chelsea and PSG on Sunday, July 13.

Tems thrilled a global audience with some of her biggest hits, including “Essence,” “Born in the Wild,” and “Free Mind.” Her performance was part of the official entertainment for the final, co-produced by FIFA and Global Citizen, and received wide praise from both football and music fans.

This milestone places Tems among global music icons such as Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, who have previously performed at FIFA events.

In 2021, Tems earned her first Grammy for her role in Future’s hit “Wait For U” featuring Drake. In 2025, she added another Grammy to her name, winning in the Best African Performance category.

With this historic moment, Tems continues to raise the bar for African artists on the global stage.
