This year’s Kwahu Easter celebration witnessed a number of musical shows organised to entertain both Kwahu citizens and visitors who travelled from various parts of the country to Kwahu to celebrate this year’s Easter.
The Kwahu Easter is highly cherished and observed by the people of the area, both home and abroad, and serves as a point of family reunion.
Patrons of the Kwahu Easter festivities on Thursday, April 18 were welcomed to the mountains with a musical bash dubbed ‘Adom Kwahu Kwanso Akwaaba Bash’ at the Linda Dor Rest Stop at Bunso Junction.
The bash witnessed great performances from some of the country’s finest DJs and other hiplife artistes such as Patapaa and others.
On Friday night, April 19, Accra-based Adom FM hosted a musical jam and a pork show dubbed ‘Effiada Mbosuo’ at Star Boat Pub at Nkawkaw to entertain patrons.
Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy on the same night headlined a street jam at Obomeng to entertain all his fans.
The jam, which was organised by the EIB Network with sponsorship from AirtelTigo, witnessed performances from Stonebwoy, Ponobiom (Yaa Pono), Kwaw Kese, Wendy Shay, Lilwin, OV, among others.
On Easter Saturday, the Eastern Palace Bar at Atibie came alive with a highlife musical concert dubbed ‘Highlife Jam’, which featured highlife artiste Nana Osei Ampofo Adjei and the Masters Band.
Adom FM also hosted a street musical jam on same day at the Presbyterian Park (Adom Park) at Obomeng, which attracted thousands of music fans from Mpraeso, Atibie and Obo.
Artistes who performed at the event were Nero X, Bright of Buk Bak fame, Eno Barony, Lilwin, Patapaa, Sista Afia, Kelvin Boy, Enwai, Joy Dadi Dancers and a host of others.
At Nkwatia Kwahu, Abrantie Amakye Dede and Sarkodie staged a musical concert dubbed ‘Take Over’ at the Rock City Night Club on Saturday.
Highlife music maestro Kojo Antwi also performed at the Nyarkoaba Nyarko Royal Hotel at Obo and Rock City Night Club on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Kojo Antwi performed alongside Kwabena Kwabena and Kofi B.
Kwahu Paragliding
This year’s edition of the paragliding festival was held on Good Friday at the Odweano Mountain at Kwahu Atibie as part of activities marking the Easter festivities.
Thirteen pilots from the United States of America, Japan, Romania, South Africa, Japan and two from Ghana participated in this year’s paragliding festival.
The pilots flew passengers from the Odwenanoma Mountains to the landing site at Nkawkaw at a height of more than 2,000 feet above sea level during the festival.
Health Walk @ Obomeng
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia joined thousands of youth last Saturday in a health walk organised by the National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Obomeng Kwahu.
Addressing a rally after the walk, Dr. Bawumia emphasized the importance of the many policies and programmes being implemented by the government of President Akufo-Addo, especially the Free Senior High School (FSHS) programme.
He said the importance of a skilled and educated populace to national development cannot be over-emphasised, and the government would continue to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians.
Other activities held to mark the Kwahu Easter celebration included a free health screening, inter-community gala matches, gospel rock shows, among others.
