Frank Kwofie
Assistant Commissioner of Police Frank Kwofie, who came home to Ghana on vacation from Darfur in South Sudan as part of a United Nations (UN) peacekeeping mission, is dead.
The superior police officer who would have turned 54 on November 1, 2018, passed away Monday night at the Police Hospital where he was rushed to for treatment as regards an undisclosed medical condition.
ACP Kwofie was a junior brother of the late Commissioner of Police Andoh Kwofie, who also died in active service a few years ago.
Commissioner of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, is reported to have proceeded to the residence of the deceased upon hearing about the unfortunate development.
A source told DAILY GUIDE that the top cop, who is the Director-General, Welfare at the Police Headquarters, said he was accompanied by a team of pastors who administered the necessary spiritual touch to the solemn condolence visit.
The Police Welfare Chief’s visit was also intended to pave way for the Inspector-General of Police David Asante-Apeatu to go to the residence of the deceased.
At the time of composing this story, it was not known whether the UN had been officially informed about the demise of the top cop.
The deceased is said to have been once upon a time head of the International Police Organisation (INTERPOL) office at the Police Headquarters in Accra, having also served as an ADC to the late President Johns Evans Atta Mills when he was Vice President.
He was the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the UN African Union Mission in Darfur (UNIMAID).
