A section of the Royal Rangers during the launch
Male parents in the country have been advised to wisely train their children according to the principles of God.
This clarion call was made to fathers during the launching of the Royal Rangers – an auxiliary group under the Men’s Ministry of Emmanuel Family Assemblies of God church in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency of the Greater Accra Region – by Solomon Osei Bonsu, the Associate Pastor of the church.
According to him, “A wise father must teach his children according to the principles of God at their tender ages so that they will not depart from such principles. A father who is wise accepts the responsibility of teaching his children what God desires,” he stated.
Pastor Osei Bonsu noted, “Fathers who are ready to teach their children employ God’s wisdom through prayers and His word. They are willing to sacrifice their success and prestige to be with their children.”
He did not charge fathers alone as far as the training of children is concerned. The associate pastor tasked mothers as well. “Training, teaching as well as discipline is a shared responsibility between mothers and fathers. This principle of raising children should not rest on the church and school alone but parents must also play their part,” he stressed.
According to Pastor Osei Bonsu, “Fathers who fail to train their children will have others taking up that role, which eventually affects the children in particular and the nation as a whole.”
Pastor Osei Bonsu indicated that a wise father teaches his children the value of wisdom and understanding of the word of God, pointing out that it’s not enough for children to have good formal education and career but also the spiritual things of God; because by that they grow up becoming good citizens.
“And when they take up public offices they don’t run the country down,” he underscored.
