Prince Henry Ankrah (R) handing over the equipment to the educational directorate
Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Prince Henry Ankrah, has made a donation of educational logistics to the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Education Directorate.
The donation, including five computers and a printer, formed part of his efforts to strengthen public institutions and support the government’s education agenda in the district.
Speaking with the media after the donation, Mr. Ankrah stated that his passion for education and public service in the district informed his decision to support the education directorate.
“I am always happy to see education progressing. When I visited this office in October last year and learned about their challenges, I made a personal commitment to help,” he said.
Mr. Ankrah revealed that the donation forms part of his broader resolve to support government institutions at the local level in advancing development.
He announced plans to tour all government institutions within the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District to identify their challenges and offer assistance where possible, urging public servants to put the donated equipment to good use.
“This is not going to end here. I will visit other institutions to identify the problems they are facing and see the best way to resolve them,” he pledged.
Mr. Ankrah also appealed to well-meaning individuals to rally behind development initiatives aimed at strengthening education and improving public service delivery in the district level.
Receiving the items on behalf of the District Director of Education, Deputy Director in charge of finance and administration, Alfred Akummey described the donation as timely and impactful.
He explained that the Directorate had suffered severe logistical constraints for years, particularly the lack of computers to facilitate efficient administrative work.
Mr. Akummey noted that lack of computers had remained a major challenge for the directorate, adding that the only computer currently in use belongs to a staff member approaching retirement.
He stressed that the donation would significantly improve the efficiency of the Education Office and ultimately enhance education delivery across the district.
“We are grateful to Mr. Ankrah for responding positively to our appeal. This donation has come at the right time, considering the logistical challenges we face. The gesture shows Mr. Ankrah’s true leadership and commitment to the development of education in the district. We thank him very much,” Mr. Akummey said.
He further revealed that several appeals made to other individuals and institutions had yielded no results, making Mr. Ankrah’s intervention particularly commendable.
He also called on other political leaders, stakeholders, and development partners to emulate the gesture and support the district’s education sector.
