The suspects with the seized ammunition
The Oti Regional Police Intelligence Department (PID/Oti), through Intelligence-led operation, has intercepted a Kia Rhino with registration number GS- 4677-17 loaded with a firearm and boxes of ammunition from Accra to Kpandai.
According to the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Public Affairs Unit, John Nchor, a search conducted on the truck revealed one locally manufactured single-barrel shot gun and 21 boxes made up of 525 pieces of Lion AAA and BB ammunition concealed amongst building materials.
He further revealed that the driver, Abubakari Salam Atta, 35, and his mate, Kabuja Kwadwo Tademe, 19, who claimed ownership of the exhibits, were arrested.
The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be arraigned before court. DSP Nchor has assured the public that operations to remove illegal weapons from communities will continue.
