Two suspected thieves were lynched by residents of Asokore in the New Juaben North municipality of the Eastern Region at dawn of Thursday, March 29, 2018.
Eastern Regional police spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Ebenezer Tetteh, who confirmed this to DAILY GUIDE, said on receiving information about the act, the Effiduase police proceeded to the scene where two unknown male adults – between the ages of 26 and 28 – were found lying unconscious along the main Koforidua-Bunso Junction road, opposite Wofa Yaw Pharmacy shop.
According to ASP Tetteh, the suspected robbers were wearing a pair of multi-colour boxer shorts each with cement blocks and pieces of wood around them.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects were manhandled by some unknown residents of Asokore who are yet to be identified,” ASP Tetteh stated.
He added that the two victims were taken to the Regional Hospital in Koforidua and were said to be unconscious, adding that they were responding to treatment while the one who was already dead was sent to the mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
