Valentino Nii Noi Nortey’s mugshot
The Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police in Pennsylvania, US, has released an official mugshot of New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Korle Klottey, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, who is accused of stabbing his wife, leading to her hospitalisation.
The picture shows the suspect in a blue scrub with white around the neck prison uniform, with his beard evidently unkempt.
He was arrested on January 17, 2026, after the Lower Paxton Bureau of Police received a report from Dauphin County Communications about a stabbing victim who had arrived at a local hospital.
The victim, who turned out to be his wife, required emergency surgery but is now in stable condition and recovering, officials say.
Through their investigation, the Lower Paxton Bureau of Police identified Valentino Nii Noi Nortey as the suspect in the stabbing.
Nortey was apprehended without incident and taken to the Dauphin County Booking Center.
He has been charged with attempted homicide – a first degree offence in Pennsylvania, possession of instruments of a crime, and tampering with evidence; all second degree misdemeanours.
He was arraigned on the same day before Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied him bail pending his preliminary hearing. He is being held in Dauphin County Prison.
Attempted Homicide (Felony 1), in Pennsylvania, occurs when a person acts with the specific intent to kill another human being but fails to complete the crime, and a conviction can lead to a prison sentence of up to 20 years, or up to 40 years if the victim suffers serious bodily injury.
Details emerged last week that a domestic disagreement over a possible divorce reportedly escalated into a violent stabbing that has left the wife of Valentino Nii Noi Nortey hospitalised in the United States.
The account was given by David Gyapanin, uncle of the victim, Gilda Nortey, who described how a routine marital argument turned deadly after his niece suggested she might seek a divorce if tensions in the marriage continued.
According to Mr. Gyapanin, the divorce comment infuriated Nii Noi, who allegedly threatened his wife, telling her that if she attempted to divorce him, he would either kill her or kill himself. Moments later, he reportedly ran to the kitchen, prompting the woman to retreat to a bedroom and lock herself inside.
However, the suspect allegedly forced his way into the room and stabbed his wife three times. Despite her injuries, the victim reportedly pleaded with him to take her to the hospital.
Mr. Gyapanin said Nii Noi agreed, but only on the condition that she would not disclose his role in the attack.
In a desperate bid to save her life, the woman reportedly agreed. While preparing to leave, she realised she still had her car keys in her pocket.
Seizing the opportunity, she rushed into the vehicle, locked herself inside and drove off, even as Nii Noi allegedly pursued her with a knife.
Bleeding and in severe pain, she managed to drive herself to the hospital where she works as a nurse, the victim’s uncle narrated and added that she was later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
