Vivo Energy Awards Transporters

Award winners with MD of Vivo Energy and dignitaries

Vivo Energy Ghana has awarded some of its cherished partners who distinguished themselves in the past year and successfully transported its products across the country without any accidents.

The award ceremony is held every year to honour the company’s transporters, who undertake high risk activities.

Speaking at the award ceremony held in Accra, Ebenezer Faulkner, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, said the company is poised to invest significantly in training, technology and the adoption of best safety practices to continually improve the company’s performance.

He disclosed that the company’s three transporters – K. Ahiadome Transport, J. K. Horgle Transport and S.O. Frimpong Transport transported approximately 592 million litres with about 200 trucks over a distance of nearly six million kilometres without a single accident.

“It therefore comes as no surprise that two of our professional transporters won the Best Petroleum Haulage Company and Best Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality Downstream Company Awards during the 2017 Ghana Oil and Gas Awards. And another was adjudged the Best Performing Haulage Company under the auspices of Ghana@60,” Mr Faulkner pointed out.

He reiterated the company’s commitment to making road transport safety one of its HSSE focus areas by using advanced technologies such as Drive Cam to improve driver coaching and mentorship to maintain its drivers.

Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, in a speech read on his behalf by Mary Obiri Yeboah, Executive Director of National Road Safety Commission, commended the company for investing in the safety of its drivers.

The transporters, who distinguished themselves during the year under review, were presented with plaques and other prizes.

Universal Engineering, Metacraft Engineering and Builders Limited, were adjudged the first, second and third best engineering contractors of the year.

In the individual category, Kwame Antwi, Philip Obuor and Emel Akla Kutse, were adjudged best drivers while Joseph Katako and Samuel Atsu won the best Aviation Fuel Driver category.

Alhassan Osman took home the best bitumen driver award.

The transporter of the year award went to S.O Frimpong Transport.
