Vivo Energy Gives Solar Panels To JHS 3 Students

AHEAD OF the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), Vivo Energy Ghana has donated solar panels to Junior High School (JHS) 3 students at La Enobal Basic School and La Presby Primary A and B in Accra.

The donation, which took place yesterday, forms part of Vivo Energy’s Cooperative Social Responsibility (CSR) activities towards quality education.

Corporate Communications Manager, Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum, indicated that the presentation of the solar lamps to the final year students is to ensure a reliable source of light during their studies at night.

“The solar lamp will help mitigate the impact of power outages, allowing pupils to focus on their studies and perform better in their exams,” she said.

She stated that the company continues its focus on developing solar solutions for electricity at its retail stations and depots.

“As part of our drive to be environmentally responsible, we have increased our solar operated retail stations to 25 sites across Ghana and we are working with the She; Product Technical Team to ensure environmentally compatible products in the mobility market space.”

To this, Shirley Tony Kum indicated that Vivo Energy in partnership with the United Way Ghana and Academic City has introduced the Green4Clean School’s Renewable Energy aimed at empowering young minds to cultivate a culture of environmental sustainability.

Themed, “Building A Sustainable Future” the project seeks to empower and provide students with an in-depth understanding of various renewable energy sources, including solar energy.

Director of Education, La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly, Habibah Kotomah, expressed gratitude to Vivo Energy and its partners for supporting the final year students with the solar lamps which will go a long way in their education as they prepare for their final exams.

“With the committed teachers here and the supply of the solar panel, it will go a long way to help the students study for long hours considering the unstable power outages we have been experiencing,” she added.
