VIVO ENERGY Ghana PLC, distributor and marketer of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants has launched the She’ll Fix campaign, to provide women with hands-on training in auto mechanics, lubrication, and car safety.
Launched last Saturday, the empowerment initiative trained women in car maintenance, from checking oil levels, to jump-starting a car battery, while providing practical training that ensures women drive with independence, safely and peace of mind.
Managing Director, Vivo Energy Ghana, Christian Li, said She’ll Fix is an extension of its flagship programme ShePower, a diversity and inclusion campaign focused on fueling change and empowering women in all spheres of life.
“With, She’ll Fix, we bring this vision closer to everyday experiences, from checking oil levels, topping up fluid, jump starting battery. This project offers practical, hands on training that helps women drive with peace of mind,” he said.
“At Vivo Energy Ghana, we believe a woman deserves more than just the basics,” Christian Li said. “She deserves to understand what is under the bonnet, to have the freedom to drive safely and confidently, and to have the skills to fix her vehicle when needed. That’s the heartbeat of the Shield Fix project,” he said.
Head of Corporate Communications, Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum, said She’ll Fix, is creating opportunities for women to confidently engage in areas traditionally dominated by men, while promoting safety, technical knowledge, and self-reliance.
“We are going to teach women about lubrication, the kinds of engineering oil you are supposed to use, the basics about cars which has to do with safety checks, including road safety” she said.
With a target of over 200 women, Shirley Tony Kum said the initiative will scale up to other parts of the country, like the Western and Northern regions, urging more women participation saying, “Northern region is where we have most of our women operating with okada.”
President, Institute of Public Relation, Ghana, Esther Cobbah, on her part commended Vivo Energy Ghana management for its inclusive initiative, stating that women who learn auto mechanics and car safety, gain independence and confidence in their ability to maintain and repair their vehicles.
She said basic knowledge of auto mechanics and lubrication can save women money by enabling them to perform routine maintenance and repairs themselves.
Esther Cobbah added that, “She’ll Fix” project will address the gap in auto mechanics knowledge among women, promoting empowerment, safety, and independence.
