Freddie Blay
Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Namoo, has refuted claims that the One Constituency, One Bus initiative of Freddie Blay is meant to influence delegates to vote for him.
According to him, the acting National Chairman of the NPP has not been prohibited from discharging his duties to make the party self-sufficient because of the elections.
“You see, the man promised these buses even before the campaign for the national chairmanship position started. He shared this idea at various events, and the party needs to be economically strong at all levels so that the executives at the various levels will not wait for headquarters to bring money to run their activities. This is what he has started, it only coincided with the elections and should not be seen as vote-buying.”
He called on people to commend Chairman Blay for boldly responding to calls from the members at the grassroots level, saying “this is an indication that Freddie Blay is a man of his words.”
Mr Anthony Namoo disclosed this in an interview with DAILY GUIDE ahead of the National Delegates’ Conference slated for July 7 in Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
According to the Upper East Regional Chairman, the discerning delegates would make the right choice in the supreme interest of the party.
“It’s bad for people to think that the delegates cannot reason for themselves and always have to depend on others to make a decision.”
Lawyer Namoo noted that the party spends a lot of money to hire buses to convey members to events.
“This initiative by Mr Blay would make the NPP constituency and regional offices financially independent.
“This way, the party members will not mount pressure on appointees or government, this is the way to go and the acting National Chairman has shown the way. I am sure other parties will take cue from this,” Lawyer Namoo added.
