We Shall Recapture Seats – President

President Akufo Addo

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) suffered in the parliamentary elections held on Monday, December 7 after losing more than 30 seats to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

President-elect, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his acceptance speech after the declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, on Wednesday evening, promised party supporters that his administration would work hard in the next four years to ensure that they recaptured all fallen parliamentary seats across the constituencies.

“I want to assure you we will recapture all our parliamentary seats from the NDC. We will take it back with hard work, and it all starts now. We will efficiently work in the next four years given us,” he said amid jubilation at his Nima residence in Accra.

Notwithstanding, the ruling party said it would challenge the result of some parliamentary elections including the Savelugu Constituency in the Northern Region due to some discrepancies.

President Nana Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,587, representing 51.303%; while John Mahama of the NDC garnered 6,213,182, representing 47.359% in the eighth election of the Fourth Republic.

President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, also pledged to reward Ghanaians and his party supporters who sacrificed to ensure his victory in the 2020 presidential election.

According to him, the result of the elections confirms that the country is impressed with the good work of the NPP hence the promise to even do more in his second term in office as President.

“I am going to work hard in office to ensure that every Ghanaian has a good life. Continue to support me, I won’t forget any of you,” he said, adding “I will urge you to have patience and understanding for myself and the Vice-President; you will not be excluded from our plans. May God bless each one of you.”
