Female Ghanaian afrobeat singer Wendy Asiamah Addo, popularly known on the local music scene as Wendy Shay, will this Saturday perform at the much hyped musical concert dubbed ‘Heat Rave’ at Bayview Village Event Centre located at the Atomic Junction in Accra.
Intended to bring Ghanaian music lovers from various backgrounds together on one platform to celebrate Ghanaian music, BEATWAVES learnt the event will witness performances from some selected Ghanaian artistes who have made an impact on the Ghanaian music scene.
With Wendy Shay as the headline act, the event will be a night full of fun for music fans who will troop to the venue to watch her and other supporting acts perform live on stage.
Signed on to Ruff Town Records, Wendy Shay recently gained media attention after releasing a single titled ‘Heat’.
Her hit video, ‘Heat’, has over 1 million views on YouTube and other streaming platforms.
Credited with numerous hit songs, Wendy Shay is among other talented female artistes in Ghana whose music and stage performances have attracted a large following.
According to Daniel Obeng-Fianko, Event Director of Bayview Village, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of 360 Group Events, this is his outfit’s quota to supporting the creative industry after outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
He believes that with the necessary support the industry would be viable again for all the ecosystems to benefit, adding that all COVID-19 protocols would be adhered to, as they have done in the past.
Wendy Shay will perform some of her all-time hits like ‘Steve Wonder’, ‘Bedroom Commando’, ‘Masakra’, ‘Uber Driver’, ‘Kut It’, ‘Ghana Boys’, ‘All For You’ among others for her fans.
Rehearsals have already started and if what is being experienced at the rehearsal ground is anything to go by, then music lovers should get ready to be treated to exciting, rich Ghanaian music.
The organisers of the show urged music fans to come to the Bayview Village in their numbers to be part of the incredible concert.
According to them, music fans should not only come to have fun, but to also enjoy the drinks which would be made available during the event.
Wendy Shay joined the music industry in 2018 and signed on to Ruff Town Records headed by Ricky Nana Agyemang, aka Bullet.
She released her first single ‘Uber Driver’, produced by MOG Beatz on June 1, 2018. The song was released together with the official video the same day.
In 2018, she won Best New Artiste of the Year at the Ghana-Naija Showbiz Awards as well as New Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards South Africa same year.
She won the Discovery of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) and New Artiste of the Year at Ghana Music Awards UK all in 2019.
She has performed at several events including Miss Ghana 2018 finals, RTP Awards Africa 2018, BF Suma Ghana Connect 2018, Afronation Music Festival Ghana in December 2019 among others.
