Majority Caucus in Ghana’s Parliament says it has no hand in the leakage of the purported travel and medical records of Rt. Hon. Alban S.K Bagbin, Speaker of the House.
According to the Majority side, spurious allegations against their side of leaking the information is false
It would be recalled that a fax message leaked about the Speaker of Parliament travel on Saturday, November 27, 2021, for a two-week medical treatment in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
A statement to the Head of Ghana’s Mission in the UAE disclosed Mr. Bagbin’s intended travel.
There was also information about the amount the Speaker is spending on each of his travels outside the country.
However, Majority Caucus in a statement issued Thursday December 9, 2021 described the said leakage and publication as irresponsible, unfortunate and unwarranted.
They therefore condemned such a publication which tried to put the integrity of the Speaker in a bad light.
“Majority side, to avoid doubt, has no interest in such irresponsible deed. Indeed to protect the Speaker’s integrity, the Chair and Parliament of the Republic of Ghana and we find the publications unfortunate and unwarranted, and we condemned them accordingly.
“However if the person behind the publications intends to set the Speaker and the Majority Caucus in Parliament of the Republic of Ghana on a collision course, we would not hesitate to offer the appopriate response,” the statement said.
It further stated that there is no scintilla of truth in allegation that the Majority Leader, Osei Kye-Mensah-Bonsu has collected money from Parliament to seek and receive medical attention in Dubai. It must therefore be disregarded.
