Woman Faces Prosecution For False Kidnap Alarm

mA Sierra Leonean woman, Khadija Kamara, who allegedly accused her Ghanaian husband George Kweku Aduaful of kidnapping their children, is to be prosecuted for raising false alarm.

According to eyewitnesses, the Ghanaian was nearly lynched at Effiakuma, near Takoradi, after the wife had raised the false alarm yesterday morning.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the Ghanaian husband had some issues with his Sierra Leonean wife, and in the process a quarrel ensued between them when the husband decided to send the children to school.

The paper learnt that the wife forcefully joined the vehicle being driven by the man and upon reaching Effiakuma the woman raised the alarm that the children, who were females, were being kidnapped.

The false alarm attracted the attention of motorists and other residents who started pursuing the vehicle.

The suspicion of the residents heightened after some radio stations in the metropolis publicized the incident.

Some of the eyewitnesses alleged that the angry mob accosted the vehicle, smashed the windscreen and nearly lynched the husband but for the timely intervention of the police.

“Sensing danger, the husband drove straight to the Effiakuma Police Station but the mob also rushed to the area in their numbers with clubs and other implements,” a resident said.

DSP Olivia Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, indicated that the Effiakuma Police had to call for reinforcement to help maintain law and order.

She indicated that the couple was later sent to the office of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVSSU) in Sekondi for further investigation.

DSP Adiku indicated that after investigations, the police decided to prosecute the woman for raising false alarm.
