Urban radio, YFM, in collaboration with eTV Ghana, has launched a new radio reality show dubbed The One to scout for talents who are passionate about a career in radio presenting.
The prospective winner must be creative, charismatic, ambitious and funny among other qualities that make a great presenter.
In all, eight lucky contestants will be selected from auditions in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi to take part in the reality show which promises a huge spotlight for the winner on YFM’s platforms. Every week, a contestant will be eliminated until the last person wins.
The show was launched at the Lancaster University, East Legon, last week Thursday. Explaining the rationale behind the show, Programmes Manager of YFM, Eddy Blay Jnr, told NEWS-ONE, “We wanted to do something different and fun because it has always been reality shows about music and the beauty reality shows like the Miss Ghanas, Miss Malaikas, etc. So, we thought of doing something different and what can we do? Of course, we are a radio station so we decided on a radio reality show.”
According to him, the show is also to give young talents the opportunity to explore their dreams, something which was rare during the time he started radio.
“We want to bring to reality the dreams of many young people who are talented and want to be behind the console but do not have the opportunity to actualise their dreams. We also want to use this platform to create the next great presenter in Ghana,” Nana Kwame Osei-Sarpong, the Regional Manager of YFM Ghana, also told journalists at the launching ceremony.
Registration is currently open till the end of September on www.Yfmghana.com and www.etvghana.com, followed by auditions in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi in October. To register, one has to visit YFM website, go to promotions and click on ‘The One’. Click on enter contest to sign in with your Facebook and a fill a form and submit.
