Radio Journalist Stabbed To Death

Portia agyeiwaa Kordie

One of the best known community radio personalities in the Ashanti Region, Portia Ama Agyeiwaa Kodie, has been stabbed to death at her home.

The lead female newscaster of Dess Fm was killed in her room in the Bentil’s House (Green Annex Building) at the Bekwai suburb of Nyameduase over the weekend.

“Her blood-stained body was discovered at about 6:00 pm Sunday by her neighbours,” General Manager of Dess Fm, Gordon Donkor, said.

The body of the 28-year-old broadcaster – a mother of one – has since been deposited at the hospital pending autopsy.

What influenced the unknown killers to take away Portia Agyeiwaa’s life in that disheartening manner is still unknown.

People in the area, who are astounded over the killing, have started speculating, reports reaching DAILY GUIDE indicate.

Yesterday, the District Commander, ASP Edward Obeng Boateng, led crime scene detectives to Portia Ama Agyeiwaa Kodie’s residence to commence formal investigation into the incident.

Mr Gordon Donkor, confirming the murder on Nhyira FM on Monday, said Portia Agyeiwaa reported to work on Sunday.

According to him, the lady, who also worked as the front desk attendant for Dess FM, left the radio station around 4:30 pm on Sunday for the house.

Just two hours later, Mr Donkor indicated that news came that Portia Agyeiwaa had been stabbed to death.

He said when some of the staff rushed to the house, Portia’s body had been conveyed to the morgue at Bekwai for autopsy.

Sobbing, he claimed that they saw blood all over the deceased journalist’s room – a clear indication that she was stabbed.

Mr Gordon Donkor said Agyeiwaa lived with her five-year-old daughter and that he was not aware whether the female journalist had any other issue.

He, therefore, appealed passionately to people to provide information to the police to arrest the killers of Portia Agyeiwaa.
