One person died while several others sustained injuries in renewed clashes between two factions at Bole in the Northern Region.

Some houses at Bole were set ablaze, causing fear and panic among residents in the district.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the Mandari Chief Issahaku Abdulai Kant was performing Damba Festival when some unknown persons fired gunshots into the crowd, killing one person on the spot.

Reports indicated that Chief Kant’s group also returned fire, leaving several people injured.

Confirming the incident to DAILY GUIDE, Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) DSP Yusif Mohammed Tanko, said one person died during the exchange of fire.

According to DSP Tanko, some injured persons were rushed to the Wa Government Hospital.

On Monday morning, there were reports that another person had died.

The Northern Regional Police Spokesman stated that military and police personnel had been deployed to the Bole District to protect lives and properties.

Some residents are making plans to leave the area.

There have been clashes between supporters of Chief Abdalai Issahaku Kant and Chief Abubakari Abutu over the rightful candidate for the Bole Skin after the demise of chief Bolewura Awuladese Pontomprong Mahama II.
