The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has reaffirmed his commitment to training one million young people in digital skills to combat unemployment in the country.

He made this pledge to the teeming supporters of the NPP during the Ofie Mega Walk at Akropong on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

The event, which aimed to re-energise the party’s base and launch the campaign in the Akuapem North Constituency, saw Dr. Bawumia emphasising job creation as his topmost priority for the youth of this country.

He revealed his plans to equip one million Ghanaian youth with digital skills which will enable them to secure employment opportunities globally, even without a university degree.

According to him, this initiative will bridge the skills gap and empower Ghanaian youth to compete in the global digital economy while combating unemployment.

“I want the youth to be employed, jobs will be my main focus. I’ll train about one million youth in digital skills, that’s where the job opportunities are. Even if you haven’t been to the university, as long as you can read and write, we’ll train you in digital skills so that you can work in other countries, while in Ghana.

“You’ll be in Ghana but will be working in America, Canada, Japan, UK” Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia added.

“The future is technology, and the youth of this country are important to drive what we want to do in technological advancement. That is why I have said we will train about 1 million young Ghanaians in coding and software applications under my Presidency,” he further said.
