2 Cops Interdicted Over Extortion

 

A shocking video circulating on social media has led to the interdiction of two Ghanaian police officers, Lance Corporal Philimon Agbevem and Lance Corporal Peter Gbadagbo, accused of torturing and extorting money from a motor pillion rider in Accra.

The incident, which allegedly occurred on July 22, 2024, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability within the Ghana Police Service.

The victim claimed that despite reporting the incident to the Cantonments Police Station, no action was taken, prompting him to share his ordeal on social media.

The Ghana Police Service has since taken swift action, interdicting the two officers and launching an investigation.

In a statement, the police assured the public that the officers would face the full force of the law.

“The Ghana Police Service… interdicted two policemen for allegedly extorting money from a motor pillion rider… They are assisting in investigations and will be put through the due process of the law.”

This incident has raised concerns about police brutality and extortion in Ghana, with many calling for greater accountability and reforms within the police service.
