The suspects and the 47 wee parcels
Forty-seven parcels of a substance suspected to be Indian Hemp have been intercepted on a Niger bound bus by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
The 47 parcels were found in an improvised compartment of the bus by law enforcement agents at Buoho in the Afigya-Kwabre District on Thursday, January 11, 2018.
Kumasi Central Divisional Police Commander, ACP Nuhu Jango said two men, Razak Yakubu, 37, and Adamu Zipo, 30, the driver and his mate respectively, had been arrested.
According to him, the parcels were concealed in a compartment of the bus registered GM 4507-12 to outwit security agents.
ACP Jango told the media that the security agents received information that the Niger bound bus, which loaded at the Bawku Station in Kumasi, had narcotics on board.
“The 47 parcels may not be the largest to have been seized, but they can easily be concealed by anyone prepared to carry them,” he intimated.
The police chief pledged to thoroughly investigate the matter and added that the substance would be sent to the forensic laboratory for testing
ACP Jango added that the suspects would be arraigned before court soon.
