2 Grabbed For Possessing Pump Action Guns

 

 

THE WOES of two suspected male robbers have been deepened with the recovery of two pump action guns during an intelligence-led operation by the police.

The suspects, Acheampong Kwadwo, aged 21, and James Antwi Adjei, aged 24, were picked up in a targeted operation conducted at known hideouts in Nweneso, Trabuom, and Nkwawie, all in the Ashanti Region, in the early hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command conducted the operation, DSP Godwin Ahianyo of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, disclosed to the media in a press release.

“The Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police has arrested two individuals for unlawful possession of firearms, following an intelligence-led operation carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025.

“The targeted operation, conducted at known hideouts in Nweneso, Trabuom, and Nkwawie, resulted in the arrest of the following suspects: Acheampong Kwadwo, aged 21, and James Antwi Adjei, aged 24.

“A search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of two (2) pump-action shotguns,” DSP Ahianyo said.

He said both firearms are suspected to be stolen and were possibly intended for use in robbery operations across the Atwima Districts and the Greater Kumasi area.

“The suspects are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. The recovered firearms have been retained as exhibits for evidential purposes,” he noted.
