Tottenham Hotspur winger Nacer Chadli is open to leaving White Hart Lane this summer, but that may not happen – because of the £20m price tag the club have slapped on his head.
Chadli, 27, is wanted by Swansea City and Borussia Dortmund, but the winger may stay put in north London if clubs are unwilling to meet his valuation, according to The Mirror.
Spurs paid £7m for the Belgian from FC Twente three years ago during the post-Gareth Bale splurge and has scored 25 goals in 119 appearance since then. The winger has impressed in fits and starts but Pochettino does not favour him in the starting line-up.
Swansea may not want to shell out such a sum of money on Chadli however, after completing a club-record £15.5m move for Atletico Madrid striker Borja Baston on Thursday. After such a significant expenditure, it appears unlikely that the Welsh club will exceed that in the current window.
Francesco Guidolin has also prioritised signing a top-class centre-half after club captain Ashley Williams signed for Everton.
Guidolin said during his press conference on Thursday: “We need a new central defender, although I am happy with my group and there is no rush,” he said.
“We almost have two teams, with two players in each position, and that’s good for me.
“But I am speaking with the chairman about a new centre-back. We have a shortlist, but there’s no rush and right now the focus is on our first game against Burnley.
“For me we only need one more signing – a central defender.”
